Tips on cleaning the wooden kitchen cabinets

Kitchen cabinets are one of the most common areas in your house that are easily exposed to grease, dirt, and bacteria. The grease from the cooking mist, dirty hands accessing the cabinet doors, and the natural condensation from the temperature outside are all factors that affect the durability of your kitchen cabinets and require regular cleaning.

The effect that this scrubbing has on your cabinet can change depending on the material. Some of the other common material combinations that can help with cleaning your kitchen cabinets are the use of detergent with water, vinegar with water, baking soda with water, nonabrasive all-purpose cleaner, or a plain old kitchen cabinet scrub.

Oil-soap wood cleaners – Wood always need a special form of treatment in order to prevent damages. The most common and effectual method for cleaning wooden kitchen cabinets is the use of oil-soap wood cleaners. This cleaner is most often available at the local hardware stores. Alternatively, the use of everyday ingredients at home can also aid in the process of cleaning the surface of wooden cabinets.

Mild detergent  – Homeowners can simply mix two cups of water with a small amount of laundry detergent or an oil/grease-cutting dish soap to scrub the cabinets. However, water should be used minimally and should not soak wet the wood as it can ruin the surface finish paints. Just brush the mixture onto the surface and then wipe it down two times, first with a damp cloth and then a dry one.

Vinegar and baking soda  – Vinegar is a great cleaner for removing hand marks and grease or oil that is stained onto the wooden cabinets. Diluting vinegar with water before the application can pose to be a great substitute for liquid detergents. The harder dried stains can be scrubbed off with a baking soda and water paste.

Instead of starting on a larger surface and running the wood, start with a sample test on a corner cabinet and pick the most effective method for cleaning.
