The mandatory age for child education varies from one state to another. The primary education is free until 16 or 18 years of age depending on the state, the preschool education is not provided by the government.

About 80% of the funds are provided by the State Government, 15% of the funds are contributed by the local Governments and 5% comes from the Federal Government approximately. Each state Government is responsible for the syllabus in the schools, curricula of the school etc.

The syllabus for education varies from one state to another. The education is categorized as elementary/primary education, secondary education, and higher education. The formal child education in the USA is 12 years. There are many private schools which are not free and the tuition fee should be born by the students.

The early childhood education or preschool education is not taken care by the Government and should be born by the parents. The preschool education may consist of academic training or some play activities. Usually, the preschool education is quite expensive and is chosen based on the requirements of the parents for instance when both the parents are working or when the parents want their child to be acclimatized to the school environment.

The child education is categorized into four patterns basically. The first pattern which is widely in the USA is the elementary school (k-5), middle school (6-8) and high school (9-12). The second pattern is the 6 years of elementary school, 3 years of junior school and 3 years of senior school. The third pattern is 8 years of elementary school and 4 years of high school. The fourth pattern is 6 years of elementary school and 6 years of junior+senior school.

The elementary school education usually starts at the age of 5 and a single teacher handles the elementary class. In the junior and senior child education, the student can choose the academic subjects and electives where the student has to move from one classroom to another for each subject.

The child education is the responsibility of the Government until they finish the senior schooling in Government run schools. There are many opportunities for students who finish their senior schooling. There are entrance tests like SAT, ACT etc. through which the students can enter university. The scores in the secondary school are also considered in some universities for the student to get admission.

Parents involve a lot in the child education and the parent-teacher meetings are held to involve the parents in the child’s education, emotional and mental growth. The parents can interact with the teachers on a regular basis which gives a chance to the parents to know about their child’s growth in all the aspects.

The child is made to feel responsible in the education system by giving them a handbook which consists of school’s procedures, policies and the punishment the student faces by violating the rules. Along with education, the behavior of the student with other students and the teachers is given importance. Both the parents and students should sign an attestation form where a set of rules are set for the students to follow.

The students should follow the rules set the schools and in case of violation, the students may be barred from the school. The syllabus set by the State Governments lays a foundation for the university education and the State Government takes care that the child education is well-taken care until senior school.

The free primary school education and the mandatory education until the age of 16 or 18 years gives a basic education to all the children.
