Peyronie’s Disease-Symptoms and Cure

The male genital is a sensitive area of a man’s body. Any discomfort in this part is a serious cause for concern. If you are experiencing pain in your penis, there can be many reasons, and one such reason is the Peyronie’s disease. It affects the penis as the condition is caused by a scar tissue, and plaque that forms the inner lining of the penis.

Peyronie’s Disease-Symptoms and Cure
The most noticeable symptom is that your penis bends upward or to the side when it is fully erect.

The primary cause of Peyronie’s disease is still a mystery as doctors haven’t been able to pin point the exact reason for this condition. However, it is a general assumption that this is caused due to some trauma like hitting hard or bending the penis that causes internal bleeding in the penis, though the injury is not noticeable otherwise. It can also be due to a genetic factor, as several cases have surfaced with a close connection between the condition and genetics.

Symptoms of Peyronie’s disease

The symptoms of Peyronie’s disease may take a long time to surface, or they may appear overnight just like that. It is not easy to observe the symptoms when the penis is soft. It can only be diagnosed when the penis is hard. Whether a person is suffering from Peyronie’s disease can be checked at home by the following sign:

• The penis is fully erected, but has curved to the side or upwards.

• A constant pain or a sensation of pain in the penis is felt when touched.

• Some men also develop scar tissue on other parts of their body, such as the hand or the foot. If your fingers are affected by scars, then you may probably have Peyronie’s disease.

If someone is experiencing or has experienced the above symptoms, then he need not worry as Peyronie’s disease is completely curable and the process is quite easy. Peyronie’s disease cure is a long process, but in most cases, it cures in itself.

Peyronies disease remedies

One of the most suggested  Peyronies disease remedies by doctors is to do nothing at all. It generally goes on its own. The doctor will ask the patient to wait for two to three years or more to see whether the condition heals by itself. Moreover, the pain that comes with Peyronie’s disease happens only when your penis is erected, and it is quite mild. Doctors say that if it isn’t affecting the patient’s sex life, then surgery or any such stern step as one of the Peyronies disease remedies is unnecessary.

However, if the condition persists, then the recommended Peyronie’s disease remedies are medicines and/or surgery.

• To treat the patient, the doctor will suggest certain medicines as Peyronies disease remedies. These medicines would typically include xanthine derivatives or the active ingredient potassium para-aminobenzoate.

• If these don’t work, then you can get a shot of verapamil or collagenase (Xiaflex) into the scar tissue of the penis.

If these don’t work as well, then only the doctor will take the path of surgery for Peyronie’s disease cure. The surgical methods include:

• Suturing the unaffected side of the penis – Procedures such as Nesbit plication is used to suture the longer side of the penis, without the scar tissue. This helps to straighten up the penis. However, this may result in its shortening. Suturing can also lead to erectile dysfunction.

• Incision or excision and grafting – This procedure is followed in severe cases of bending of the penis, as this procedure runs the risk of a greater erectile dysfunction than suturing. The surgery includes making one or more cuts in the scar tissue or maybe removing some parts of it. This will allow the sheath to stretch, letting the penis to straighten up. The surgeon will further sew in a piece of tissue to cover up the holes in tunica albuginea, which is a membrane inside the penis that helps to maintain an erection.

• Penis implants – A surgically inserted penile implant will replace the spongy tissue inside the penis that fills with blood during an erection. The implant is generally semi-rigid, which means the person will have to manually bend the penis up or down, during the act of sexual intercourse. There is another type of implant, which is inflated with a pump implanted in the scrotum. A penis implant is considered only when the patient has Peyronie’s disease and erectile dysfunction at the same time. The surgery will depend completely on the severity of the patient’s condition.

Peyronies disease  is quite simple, if the person can hold onto some patience. It generally goes away within a year or two, and that is why doctors are reluctant to take resort to surgical procedures. As it can be seen, surgical procedures do come with a number of disadvantages. So the best way for Peyronie’s disease cure is to wait it out.
