A genetic bleeding disorder which prevents the blood in the body from clotting normally is called hemophilia. The most common and primary symptoms of this disorder are frequent and spontaneous bleeding in different areas of the body. Internal bleeding occurs in the spaces between joints, and it can cause permanent damage if left untreated.

  2. Hemophilia A and B occur when there is an absence of blood clotting factor VIII and IX respectively.

  4. Hemophilia B Leyden causes young male children to bleed excessively throughout childhood, but less during puberty.
  5. Hemophilia treatments are not permanent, and to treat the condition in the US, you need medications which are extremely expensive, and you cannot stop taking them suddenly as the condition may come back.

  1. A blood test can show the clotting factor of your male child and hemophilia can be cured at an average age of 9 months.
  2. Regularly Infusing Clotting Factor or DDAVP is one of the best hemophilia treatments which is an ongoing process but helps in preventing side effects such as damage to joints.
  3. In the case of Hemophilia C, Clotting factor XI is needed to make it stop completely which is only available in Europe. For the time being, Plasma infusions may help in controlling the bleeding.
  4. There are several home remedies for hemophilia as well such as exercising, avoiding painkillers, and avoiding blood thinning medications.
