  • Punctal occlusion

In this procedure, the surgeons use small punctal plugs that feel the eye tear ducts. Therefore, it provides the required amount of moisture to the eyes, thereby keeping them safe. The punctal plugs used in the surgery are made of silicon and to seal the tear ducts surgeons prefer using heat known as cauterized. This eventually makes a permanent solution that tends to increase the number of tears on the surface of the eye.

  • Salivary gland autotransplantation

It is an uncommon method that is preferred by the surgeons if all the recommended treatment for do not solve the issue. Salivary gland autotransplantation requires the process of extracting some of the saliva glands from the upper lip and placed under the skin around the eyes. Hence the attached saliva glands will help in supplying a required amount of tears to the eyes.
