Key Highlights of the MINI Hardtop 2 Door
The MINI Hardtop 2 Door is a hot hatch with a powerful engine, loads of safety and convenience features, and the classic MINI design. Due to a fixed roof and low center of gravity, the car is decidedly the best handler out of MINI’s line-up in the country. The model is available in different colors, including Alpine White, Chili Red, and Soul Blue.
Exterior design
The MINI Hardtop 2 Door retains the marque’s iconic circular design language, making the vehicle an instant eyeball magnet. The chrome inserts on multiple panels and the two-tone color scheme add to its visual appeal.
Interiors
The circular theme carries on into its interiors. Most elements, from the air vents and the infotainment screen to the instrument cluster, sport an elongated circular/oval shape. Its cabin uses premium quality materials and has a sporty vibe. While the front seats are comfortable and supportive for the front-row occupants, the rear seat has limited space. In terms of boot capacity, the MINI Hardtop 2 Door provides 8.7 cubic feet behind the front seats for cargo storage. If the rear seats are folded down, this number increases to 34 cubic feet.
Features
All variants of the MINI Hardtop 2 Door come loaded with a long list of standard features and equipment, including an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that can be accessed to set the air-conditioning and climate control and operate various apps and media. The other standard features are Apple CarPlay, in-built apps on the infotainment screen, button-driven engine start and stop, a multi-functional steering wheel, power windows, power locks, and multiple power outlets. In addition, customers get a trip computer, a remote-controlled trunk/hatch release feature, a refrigerated storage compartment in the glove box, a leather-trimmed interior, body-colored heated driver and passenger door mirrors, and more. Besides, there are many extras you can pay to add when you purchase either variant.
Safety equipment
The MINI Hardtop 2 Door comes standard-fitted with lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and front-collision warning. An optional driver assistance package includes a head-up display and specialized parking assist feature. Adaptive cruise control is a standalone option. However, the car does not have some common safety features, such as lane-keeping assist and blind-spot monitoring.
Trims and engine
The MINI Hardtop 2 Door has four trims, each with a different engine:
Cooper
A TwinPower Turbo 1.5-liter inline three-cylinder direct-injection engine with double VANOS powers the base Cooper variant. It produces 134 hp of power and 162 lb-ft of torque.
Cooper S
Moving up the ladder, the Cooper S comes with a TwinPower Turbo 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder direct-injection engine with double VANOS that produces 189 hp and 206 lb-ft of torque.

All engines are peppy and help launch the Cooper, Cooper S, John Cooper Works Hardtop, and Cooper SE from 0 to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds, 6.4 seconds, 5.9 seconds, and 6.9 seconds, respectively, underlining the hatchback’s performance credentials.
