Important things to carry for a pride parade

Pride parades and pride walks are the cornerstones of the LGBTQ+ community. Over the years, members of this strong family step out and walk together to show their pride. You can often find individuals dressed to the tee, holding witty signs that smash the norms of society, and flashing their pride flags and windsocks.

Important things to carry for a pride parade
So, if you’re planning on joining a pride, as a member or ally, here are some things you must have

  • A glittery outfit
This one is not necessarily a must-have but you may not always have the opportunity to get dressed up and step out in your day-to-day life. So, if you’ve been thinking about the fanciest outfit, here’s your chance. Don some glitter, use the color eye shadow, and go overboard with your lipstick. Pride is all about acceptance and belonging, so be who you really are in the most unapologetically way possible. You can match your outfit with your flag and accessorize with a pride flag windsock as well.
  • A pride flag or a pride flag windsock
The pride parade is all about you and being proud of your community. To this end, it is a must to wave your pride sky high. Don’t forget to bring along your rainbow-striped pride flag. Remember that no matter your sexual orientation or gender identity, the pride and the colors of the pride flag are all for you. If you’re not up to getting a pride flag, you can even get a pride flag windsock that blows in the wind. These, of course, have the traditional colors of the pride flag. If you’re feeling up to it, you can even make a pride flag windsock at home. Nothing says pride like a little DIY project.
  • Sunscreen
Pride parades usually go on for hours and unless you want to get sunburned by the end of the day, you definitely should carry sunscreen. While you will definitely be able to take a break and get some well-deserved rest and shade, it’s best not to risk it. Don’t get caught under the rays of the sun with no protection for your skin. Apply your sunscreen at least 15 minutes before stepping out and reapply it every two hours. As an additional precaution, you can even get yourself a fancy pride hat that will protect you from the sun.

Don’t forget to carry a great pair of shoes, a bottle of water to stay hydrated, some snacks so you don’t go hungry, and a whistle to stay loud and proud.
