Homemade stain and odor remover

Stains are really hard to get rid of, even with the best of products and removers available in the market. Especially with carpeting, just when you had that carpet cleaned! Pets spend more time on the carpets in your house, so even when they leave, the odor stays and lingers till the next time you have your carpet fumigated.

But the odor can sometimes become overwhelming and you just might not be able to wait till your next scheduled fumigation. Any stains which have been left behind will also be very difficult to get rid of, but here are a few home remedies which can help.

Vinegar and water mix: Perhaps the most effective and all-purpose cleaner that can be made at home, with a couple of very affordable ingredients. Mix vinegar with water and just dab it all over the stain area, let it sit for a while, and then wipe it off once the mixture has taken effect. This mix can effectively remove any and all stains from a number of surfaces, at the bare minimum of cost and effort.

Alcohol and vinegar mix: Mix half a cup of vinegar with a quarter cup of alcohol to make a strong concoction to remove any pet stains from your carpets, sitting areas, and other places where your pet might have made himself a cozy resting spot. The mixture is nontoxic since both the alcohol and vinegar evaporate instantly leaving the space clean and odor free. Another very affordable way of dealing with pet stains.

Vinegar and baking soda spray:  Works particularly well to get those urine stains off from your carpet. There might have been times when the little pup got nervous and let go, leaving a colorful pattern on your beautiful carpet. Pets who have not been trained will go wherever they please and might leave a nasty surprise for you on the carpet when you get back home. This inexpensive and homemade spray is quite effective in getting those tough stains and odor out from the carpet.

Citrus enzyme: A combination of lemon peels immersed in water with a couple of spoons for brown sugar. This enzyme is a strong stain and odor removal because of its density and concentration of the main ingredient, citrus. Although the preparation time for the same is unrealistic, the concoction is pretty effective and worth the wait. It takes a couple of months for the enzymes to be dissolved and be ready to be used.
