Wheezing is a high-pitched sound that can be caused when the baby is unable to exhale with ease. This can be due to various reasons, like, bronchitis, cold, cough, mucus, or phlegm. It can be troublesome for the baby as they can have respiratory issues and improper sleep. Wheezing doesn’t always mean that it is a serious condition that your baby is facing.

  • Breastfeeding : Breastfeeding is one of the best home remedies to cure your child from wheezing. It can be a preventive measure as well as a cure for wheezing. A new study has shown that babies who were breastfed for a shorter period showed higher chances of developing wheezing issue as compared to ones who were breastfed for a longer period.
  • Steam inhalation : Steam inhalation works the same way it works among adults with wheezing. You can take your baby to a steam bathroom, or you could turn your ordinary bathroom into a steam bathroom by keeping a large tumbler of hot water and shutting all the doors and windows if any. Sit along with your baby in this closed space for about 5-10 minutes until your baby starts to draw sweat. This proven wheezing home remedy will also clear your baby’s chest.
  • Fluids : There are a few bacteria and germs that can cause accumulation of phlegm and mucus leading to wheezing. To keep your child protected you can increase their fluid intake. Fluids such as cow’s milk, breast milk, water can help in thinning the mucus and prove to be an effective home remedy for wheezing. Along with these fluids, try to feed your baby with some warm fluids. You can heat up the water or milk that you feed your baby for better results.
  • Inhalers : Wheezing home remedies including inhalers as they work best on regular wheezing. Inhalers are meant to soothe the muscles around the obstructed air passages of the nose, and they do just that, helping the child recover from wheezing quickly. You can also adopt antibiotics, but they come with side effects, while inhalers are completely safe and free from any side effects.
