  • Magnesium supplement

Swollen feet and ankles, medically known as edema, can be caused due to a magnesium deficiency in your body. Consuming a magnesium supplement could provide a considerable amount of relief to your pain/swelling. It is ideal to take a 200mg pill once in a day as the RDA for magnesium is somewhere at 350mg for the day. You must consult your doctor on the dosage as there would also be an amount of magnesium in your diet.

  • Soak in tonic water

Soaking your feet in tonic water is not a part of the commonly known swollen feet and ankle remedies. Although it is advisable to soak your feet in room temperature or cold tonic water; the quinine can help your feet escape the swelling for a brief period and provide the much-needed relief. If you are suffering from excruciating pain you can also heat the water and then soak your feet for about 10-15 mins; if your swelling isn’t reduced you must consult a doctor at the earliest.

  • Exercise

Unlike soaking in tonic water, exercise is a widely advised remedy and can help you if you face swollen feet and ankles on a regular basis. Exercise will assist in easing out the pain, free the nerves/veins from clots, if any, and pace up the healing process.

  • Yoga

Some causes of swollen feet and ankles also include abnormal blood flow or blood clots in the legs. Yoga is the perfect remedy for these clots, yoga postures help in improving the blood flow throughout your body and aid you in getting rid of the clots. Regular practice of yoga could also lead to a drop in the occurrence of swollen feet and ankles.

  • Massage

A masseuse, that’s what you need for you swollen ankle’s treatment. While you’re getting a massage, make sure you let your masseuse know about the pain in your ankles. It will help them in focusing more on your lower body and provide greater relief to you swollen ankles or feet.
