The original Medicare plan does provide insurance for hearing aid devices. But if you need diagnostic hearing tests, Part B of your Medicare plan will take care of it.

Also, the Medicaid policies for hearing related services differs from state to state. Out of 50 states, only 28 have provisions for hearing aid assistance for Medicaid-eligible people. The scope of financial assistance varies from state to state with some states having very limited coverage. The eligibility criteria also differ from state to state with some states having a very strict process of elimination of potential beneficiaries. There are a few states whose Medicaid has friendly policies towards providing assistance for healing aid devices.

For instance, the state of Kansas has one of the friendliest policy. The plan has provisions for audiological testing, ear examinations, and evaluations. Hearing aids, their fitting and replacement with provision for trial rental is covered as well. They also cover services for cochlear implants. Although there are limitations to the policy, they are not very stringent. For example, you have access to six batteries per month in case of monaural hearing aids and 12 per month for binaural hearing aids. Compare this with Nevada that you give one package of battery per aid per 30 days.

New Hampshire also provides services that are favorable towards providing affordable hearing loss-related services. The set of services is similar to Kansas. In addition, New Hampshire has provisions for follow-ups for verification of hearing aid performance and monitoring of hearing thresholds. Check the Medicaid regulation website to know whether your state is hearing-aid friendly or not.
