4 Easy Homemade Snacks for Kids

Kids can be fussy with the kind of food they eat. But all the junk that they like does not provide them with the essential nutrients that they need on a daily basis. So, here are some easy homemade snack ideas if you’ve been struggling with trying to figure out what works best for them.

4 Easy Homemade Snacks for Kids

  1. Hummus
Hummus is easily one of the healthiest treats out here; unsurprisingly, it also makes for a perfect snack for kids. You can make this quintessential Middle Eastern dip by simply blending chickpeas along with some tahini, garlic, and citrus. In fact, you can even add some veggies and grind them all up into a delicious paste. Accompanied with some pita bread or sweet potato chips, kids will love this creamy deliciousness in a bowl.
  2. Cheddar Frittatas
When it comes to delicious home-made snacks for kids, this one is surely worth trying. All you need are some hashbrown potatoes, cheddar, and some spices and herbs of your kids’ choice. In a bowl, mix them using a whisk and shape them as you like. Put them in the oven and bake until they are crispy brown. The best part is that you can even freeze these until your kids want to eat them again. Don’t forget to serve them with some delicious spread.
  3. Peanut, Butter, Jelly, and Apples
The PB&J sandwich is a classic snack but not always the most healthy choice. So, if you want your kid to snack without compromising on their health, you can definitely try this one. Start by slicing the apples into thin rounds and then use a cookie cutter to cut the core of the apple. Now, all you need is to spread some delicious and fresh PB&J on the apple slice and cover it with another. You now have a nice PB&J apple sandwich ready to eat.
  4. Trail Mix
Nuts and dry foods are packed to the brim with essential nutrients and antioxidants. But it can be honestly difficult to get your kids to eat them. So, here’s a recipe that can turn this around. You can make a monster small bites with a trail mix. Get some rolled oats, chocolate chips, M&Ms, some honey, peanuts, and more. Stir all of these together and keep mixing until combined. Roll them into little balls and refrigerate them until they are firm.
  5. Broccoli Cheesy Bread
Broccoli cheesy bread is another easy homemade snack for your kids. You’ll need some diced broccoli, mozzarella, oregano, and even garlic. Eggs can also be added to make this snack a high-protein one. Bake the broccoli first and then transfer it to the bowl where you can mix all your ingredients to make it into a dough. Now bake the dough for 20 minutes until it is golden brown and serve hot.
